Wow! I can’t believe the BI Elite YouTube channel is 3 years old! One of my favorite things about running a YouTube channel is all of the data that it provides. I have data showing me views, subscribers, minutes watched, comments, revenue, and more for every video for every day! This is a gold mine for a data nerd like me.
With this Power BI competition, I’m opening up my database to the public so that you can build a truly stunning Power BI report. This contest is open to everyone. You simply need the database connection information, listed below. Remember, the winning reports receive a free month of BI Elite Training and their report demo’d on the website and channel!
Like all of the BI Elite Training Live Databases, this data is updated at least daily. Therefore you can build a report with time intelligence metrics like MTD or YTD and refresh the report as the data continues to grow! This makes for a great demo report to show to friends, employers, etc.

How to Compete

- Contest runs from Monday April 5th, 2021 (4/5/2021) 12pm EST through Monday April 12th, 2021 (4/12/2021) 12pm EST.
- Build a Power BI report based on the provided YouTube dataset. The report can be as simple or complex as you’d like to make it! Entries from all skill levels are welcome. If you’d like to see some different data that is available via the YouTube API, send me a message and I’ll see if I can add it.
- When complete, publish the report to Web and email the link to contests@bielite.com. You can choose to send the raw .PBIX file instead.
- All entries will be judged on the following criteria, and winners will be announced Friday, April 16th (4/16/2021).
